My research focuses on the roles of institutions for global business, how AI influences business practice and research, and on the interface between geopolitics and business strategy. My research has appeared in some of the leading journals in business and management, including Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Management Studies, and Management Science. I have a particular focus on research in global strategy and international business, with publications in journals including Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of World Business, and Global Strategy Journal. In addition to my work on management and international business, I have also contributed to work in finance (published in The Journal of Finance) and work in inquiry-based learning (published in European Journal of Physics).
I have taught more than 100 courses at universities including Copenhagen Business School, WU Vienna, and New York University. These courses have covered topics from introductory Management and Organizations, over undergraduate specialization courses in Global Strategy, to graduate courses in Data Science and AI and PhD courses on Reviewing and Theory-based Reasoning. I have supervised about 250 undergraduate and graduate thesis projects, including about 20 PhD dissertations.
My project-based work includes third-party grants from the EU Commission (Horizon and Erasmus+ lines), several Austrian funding agencies, as well as work supported by public and private companies. I am a partner in a consulting company and a supervisory board member in a startup financial company.
